The Brass Rail

First opened during the Great Depression as a restaurant for downtown workers, at its peak, the Brass Rail operated 39 restaurants in the Pittsburgh area including three downtown venues. Known for its tasty food and brass spittoons, the Brass Rail served the people of Pittsburgh for 91 years before closing down in 2010.
